Instruments can be run from virtually any Windows PC including laptops, net books and even newer tablets.

Smaller footprints offered by net books and tablet PCs are very popular when laboratory counter space is limited. An added benefit of net books and tablets is that they easily sit atop the instrument thus preventing students from placing liquid reagents on the instruments and thus avoiding spills.
